Framed Naive Art Drawing-Portrait of Dean Martin
This piece is from my small, eclectic Folk Art collection.
This drawing of Dean Martin is professionally framed in a 15 by 18 inch frame. The drawing itself is matted and is on a 9 by 12 paper.
Along with the portrait of Dean, a rambling written message runs across the top and right side of the drawing. It says: Bobby, William'son, Drawned, Dean, Martin, this, picture, is, also DEAN, MARTIN'S, picture, of, Dean, Marttin, Because....and here the writing is fainter but still visible and continues: DEAN, MARTIN, is, this, american, Roy, RoGer's, Boy's, Name, in, this, Big, picture, too.
Dean has a particularly strange look on his face that I love. There is also the number 55 just over Dean's shoulder...not sure if that is a date, his age or what.
I can't be absolutely sure but this looks like a marker drawing. I purchased it in Los Angeles at the Glendale Toy show in the mid 90's.
Perhaps the artist is Bobby Williamson, but who knows. As soon as I saw that zombie stare I knew it was for me.
