Primitive Folk Art Painting on School Slate- Black Girl Sitting on Watermelon

$350.00

This piece is from my small, eclectic Folk Art collection.

When I purchased this painting back in the late 1980's I thought it was too good to be true.  I loved the image....so now I am selling it for about what I paid and you can decide for yourself.

The wood edged slate is old, with some light chalk writing visible on the back. The painting was done on the front of the slate with out removing it from the wood frame; bits of paint are on the inside wooden edges. The words Yum Yum are painted on the frame.

The slate is 6.75 inches by 8.75 inches. A metal link chain attached with two small nails hangs the picture. The image of a small Black girl child sitting atop a watermelon, while eating a slice, is wonderful.
